Tauleigne - A Charming Vacation House

Location

Nestled on the southern side of a mountain, Tauleigne is surrounded by a massive forest spanning hundreds of acres. This picturesque property offers breathtaking views and is protected from the Mistral winds by nearby cliffs. It is situated on the border of Bollène, Vaucluse, and Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur regions, with the entrance accessible via the quaint village of Saint-Restitut in Drôme, Rhône-Alpes. The address is listed in Saint-Restitut for administrative purposes. The property is easily accessible from the A7 highway, just 7 kilometers away from the Bollène exit.

The Property

Covering 32 acres, Tauleigne boasts an enchanting landscape adorned with oak and evergreen oak trees, set against a majestic backdrop of rocks and cliffs. The ruins of the Château de Chabrière add to the serene ambiance of the property. Meandering pedestrian paths offer exceptional views of the Bollène countryside, the Dentelles de Montmirail, and the Mont Ventoux. A charming grass garden, adorned with laurel roses, lavender, snatolines, and rosemary, is accompanied by a small oak wood, providing delightful shaded areas. Families can enjoy the swimming pool while children play, and a barbecue corner is housed in a consolidated ruin. The property also features a large garden table for outdoor dining, illuminated by outdoor lighting. Terraces near the house are perfect for friendly games of pétanque. The poolside cabana houses pool filters, a washing machine, a refrigerator, and toilets. The garden and swimming pool are maintained twice a week, with automatic sprinklers.

The House

With a capacity to accommodate 10 to 12 people, Tauleigne is a beautiful, traditional Provençal stone house dating back to the early 19th century. It features stone windowsills, door frames, and a roof made of ancient Roman tiles. The facade displays two front doors, one leading to the living room and the other to the kitchen.

The first floor comprises three interconnected rooms with stone walls and tiled floors. Starting from the left entrance, the first room is the kitchen and dining area, followed by the living room, and then the dining room. The kitchen is equipped with modern amenities, including a sink, draining board, electric burners, an extractor fan, electric oven, dishwasher, chopping block, multiple sockets, and all necessary utensils for preparing simple or gourmet meals. The living room, located in the center of the house, features well-preserved stone walls and a ceiling made of wooden logs and large planks. It includes comfortable couches, armchairs, a library, and a television. A cordless telephone is also provided for communication in the garden. The dining room boasts a large table, complemented by stone walls and a charming ambiance.

These three rooms are adorned with small windows in the traditional Provençal crossbar style, allowing filtered light to create a pleasant contrast with the exterior brightness. The shutters can be used to regulate the temperature and preserve a cool environment.

The second floor is accessed via a staircase hidden by a corner toilet and a cupboard. The first hallway leads to two rooms and a bathroom. The largest room, located above the living room, features a double bed, night tables, a dresser, and storage space. It offers picturesque views of the garden and swimming pool, and can accommodate an infant's bed if required. The second room is equipped with a double bed, night tables, and a built-in wardrobe. The adjacent bathroom features white tiles with orange flower designs and offers a sink, shower/bath with a mixer tap, and thermostatic control.

A second hallway, accessed through an ancient door on the left side of the staircase, leads to a toilet, a second bathroom with colorful tiles, and a youthful room with two single beds and an additional pull-out bed. A staircase from this hallway leads to a dormitory on the mansard-roofed third floor. Divided by a wardrobe, it offers two beds on each side, with two of them featuring pull-out beds. This dormitory can accommodate up to six people. All rooms on the second and third floors, excluding the bathrooms and toilets, have polished pine wood floors.
